2012 Safe Tech & Healthy Relationships Artwork Contest


The Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence (GCADV) is hosting the Safe Tech & Healthy Relationships artwork contest, sponsored by the Verizon Foundation, to help promote GCADV’s new teen dating violence awareness initiative, including a teen webpage and training centered around providing services and assistance to teens experiencing dating abuse. Through this initiative, GCADV hopes to empower teens to learn about teen dating violence, healthy relationships and safe use of technology and strengthen advocates’ skills in working with teens. Verizon Wireless

The artwork of the grand prize winner will be featured on the GCADV teen webpage and in promotional materials for GCADV teen dating violence trainings. Contest winners will also be invited to participate in a one-day summit with domestic violence intervention and prevention advocates from throughout the state and participate in a public awareness video —sharing their experiences and opinions on how to effectively work with teens and raise awareness about this issue.

Poster Themes:

Artwork and themes should be directed to a teen audience and bring awareness to the problem of teen dating violence as well as encourage healthy relationships and the safe use of technology.

Possible Themes Include:

  • Warning signs of dating abuse (emotional, physical, verbal or sexual)
  • Unhealthy use of technology in dating relationships
  • Speaking out against dating violence
  • Qualities of a healthy relationship
  • Positive ways teens can use technology in relationships
  • Helping an abused friend

Eligibility: The contest is open to all individuals ages 13-19.

II. Graphic Design Category Prize:

An overall winner will be chosen from the categories above and have their artwork featured on the GCADV teen webpage and in promotional materials for GCADV teen dating violence trainings.

How to Register/Participate:

1. Application with parental consent form must be included with submission packet. Download Application by Clicking HERE!
2. Consent form must be returned with artwork entries. All entries received without consent form will be disqualified.
3. Artwork can be submitted via the following:

1. One entry per person. Artwork no larger than 8 ½ x 11”.
2. Contest application with parental consent form must be included with submission.
3. No glued, stapled, or attached content on artwork will be accepted.
4. Submissions should be checked for any spelling errors and designer’s name should be written on the back of the art piece.
5. Usage of copyrighted images is prohibited.
6. Entries must be postmarked by January 11, 2013.

Judging Criteria:
  1. Winners will be chosen based on the use of creativity and how well the artwork and messages bring awareness to dating violence, healthy relationships, and safe use of technology.
  2. Voting will take place via the GCADV Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/GCADV January 15, 2013 – January 22, 2013. Winners will be announced January 31, 2013.
Terms and Conditions:

All entries become the property of the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence. GCADV reserves the right to freely use artwork, images, and any text for the purpose of dating violence awareness and education. Only persons over the age of 18 are eligible for entry. Each entrant shall be entitled to make one (1) entry into The Safe Tech & Healthy Relationships artwork contest. In the event that GCADV deems an entrant to have made multiple applications to enter or to have acted in bad faith with respect to the contest, the entrant shall be excluded from The Safe Tech & Healthy Relationships artwork contest and consequently ineligible to win the prize, as defined below. The prize for winning The Safe Tech & Healthy Relationships artwork contest shall be a Verizon Wireless gift card for each category, valued at $125 (the “Prize”).GCADV will notify the winner of the contest via e-mail or phone call by February 1, 2013. GCADV’s decision is final with respect to all matters relating to awarding of the prize and shall not be subject to review or appeal by any entrant or by any third party. The prize is neither transferable nor exchangeable and cannot be exchanged for money. By entering The Safe Tech & Healthy Relationships artwork contest each entrant unreservedly agrees to these terms and conditions which govern the contest and the awarding of the prize. The winning entrant shall be solely responsible for any taxes levied in relation to the delivery or receipt of the prize. GCADV reserves the right to alter these Terms and Conditions at any time and in its sole discretion. GCADV reserves the right to disclose winner’s name and identity. These terms and conditions and any matters relating hereto shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with the laws of Georgia and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Georgia.
